Response to Ohio Get-together In Huron

Hello Commander fans!

Numerous individuals have collaborated via the internet and telephone during the past few days, to effectively put together what is sure to be a WONDERFUL TIME with good people and numerous classic fiberglass Chris Craft Commanders.

The following link has all the details !

ABOUT THE PHOTOS BELOW:

These photos are added to help build excitement for another Great Lakes Commander Rendezvous, where guests will be cruising to a destination for fun and friendship. Excitement, by the way, is building fast. If you want dock space at the Huron Yacht Club and Boat Basin, better move quickly!

The photos below were taken a few years ago at Drummond Island, on the north end of Lake Huron where lakes Huron and Michigan meet. It was a remote location, beautiful scenery, and attended by some boaters who did some serious cruising. SUMMER SONG, shown below, is one such boat that cruised a long distance to this event. It is a 38' Commander that has been repowered with diesels, owned by Ron Smoker, of Mentor, Ohio (near Cleveland). I had the pleasure of being aboard this boat while the photos from the air were taken. It's a sweet running machine, that cruised all the way from the Cleveland, Ohio area!

GROSSE ILE, another 38' Commander, cruised on a 700-mile round trip from South Haven, Michigan, to this destination with the Heinrich family aboard. The boat was previously owned by Todd Heinrich, who maintained it in Bristol Fashion and cruised it frequently. These boats are proof that old Chris Craft Commanders are still very viable cruising machines, and as you can see from the photos, they can be maintained in as good a condition as any yacht afloat.

Regards,

Paul
