I had the transmission out of my 61 continental rebuilt about 1 year ago. i replaced everything i could replace and sent the converter out to a guy in san antonio who opened it up and rebuilt the internals and inspected the fins on the inside of the case then rewelded it back together and balenced the whole assembly and there was supposedly some modification/upgrade with the process, i just cant remember the detail of exactly what was done but he sent me pictures of it all apart and all i remember is seeing the fins of the turbine is what it looked like but i cant find the email that detailed what was done with the pics of it taken apart and the old man that did the rebuild for me past away last feb so i have no idea how to get ahold of the convertor guy to ask questions. But what is great about this is the old timer that did the work knew these trannys some what well.... he knew exactly what i was talking about before i even brought it down and described the internals to me and when i brought it to him and he took it apart it was exactly asdescibed and he also knew of a common wear point on the front pump that he mentioned the first time .. he already told me that he had a foolproof solution to this problem that i had a local machine shop trim down and make a SS wear ring and he gave the measurements for the work to them... i also replaced any removable bolt with ARP stainless and black oxide hardware as it went back to gether and also the internals of these tranny's use steel hardlines as passages instead of porting like gm trannies and he also had some custom replacement lines for a few of them that he said he had found out that changing them was better for shifting???? like i said there was alot of details on what he did to this but unfortunately i cant exactly ask him for them.... OH and i also powdercoated the entire case and pan and bell.. the case iron parts are flat black the cast aluminum parts are clear over a bead blasted surface( this looks really cool) and all the stamped steel pans and covers are chrome. I am tring to get rid of this so i can put a 700r4 behind my new motor. so if anyone wants this unit i will let it go for 200 for the core and what i have into it which is as follows... heck lets just call it an even 2000.00 and ill crate it for you for free all you pay is the shipping charge...
rebuild kit 395

front pump work 95
bushing kit 115
