I'm doing some research on the lincoln y blocks. Is there a forum like this for the LYB? Need some of the same info I've looked around here for like stroking. boring etc.

I have this car...a 56 Victoria 2dht. Obviously it came with the 272-312....I have all the parts to put a 430 in it. I'm trying to come up with some way to build this car so that if I or someone else in the future, wants to go back to the y block engine, they can do so. If I set it up as a LYB optional car, if someone wanted a 312 instead of the lyb, will the 312 swap out? I guess what I'm asking is, if the car was all stock, could I yank the ford y block and put a LYB in it FORGetting about the trans. I have that part figured out.

The LINC Y-BLOCK consisted (mainly) of the 341/368CI engines, discontinued in 1957. The MEL SERIES (430) was introduced in 1958 and is a very close cousin of the FE (390).
Which engine series are you working with?

Right now I have a 430 but I'd like to get an engine that looks like the old y block, to swap out occasionally. I don't have a 368 right now but have bought a 6 stromberg 368 intake and the elusive aftermarket bellhousing and flywheel that fits the lyb. If I could determine that the lyb would fit the front crossmember like the ford y block does, I'd be OK. I guess I'll have to see if I can come up with a 368 core to experiment with.

I stumbled across this while browsing one day. A 56 CROWN was being sold on one of those fancy car auction sites and the restorer must have not realized it was a 368 and put a 390 into it. I researched what little I could find and there was a 1956 Police Option 368 (Special Order). I do not know the details but there has to be a reference in either the MPC of the period or the repair manual.
