Can the journals on a later cam be sized to 58-60 specs?

John Olsen (sp?) aka "vintakes" says that it might be possible to turn the cam journals down on the later cams to fit them into older blocks. If that can be done, I'm going to buy one. Please let me know.

Depends if the lobes were cut on the smaller base circle.

If the lobes themselves are cut to the later model larger base circle, then cutting the journals down will still have the lobes themselves too high to clear the cam bearings when installing the camshaft. If the cam was cut on a smaller than required base circle, then cutting the journals down may work. But that's typcially a special order on the camshaft to get that done and is usually done to accommodate a cam to rod clearance issue which you will not see very often on the MEL engine.
