I have a 59 430 and my balancer has been damaged and previously repaired. I am looking for a rebuilt balancer or a used balancer. I have seen a thread that says the FE balancer might work and that I could go to a FE fluid balacer. Anyone done this?

Is the old balancer too damaged to have it rebuilt?

The crank snout sizes are the same but I have heard of no one that has attempted to use a fancy FE balancer. You would have to worry about pulley alignment and pulley bolt pattern.

Somehow a chunk of the pulley broke off and was rewelded on. The rubber is old too. It might be fine, but why take the chance. I should be able to find a used one and have it rebuild or if the FE one works, that would be a slick option.

If you had access to an early FE balancer, you could trial fit it to make sure everything lines up. Then order an FE HIGH-TECH balancer for that balancer application.

It would either be that or mix and match pulleys.

If you try it, please let us know what you find...
