LINC-MERC went to a 2V carb in 1960 and redesigned head changes (smaller/lowered runners) in the 1961 LINC engine redesign (to have the carburetor fit under the new LINC lowered hood design). This severly hurt flow over the previous 58/59 cylinder heads. In 1963, LINC had another engine redesign in where they returned to a 4V and improved cylinder head flow for the application. The design was still hampered in that it still had lowered runners and lowered intake carb plenum to fit under the lowered hood.
I will try to make available some tech material on the 1963 upgrade. It also consisted of a piston dome design change.
If you want a free flowing HI-RPM engine, my suggestion is the 58/59 heads and matching intake.
Also remember to take into consideration the 462 bell mounting pattern;

This engine series is becoming more complicated than the FE.
