On the EDSEL 410.

Try here;

"The guy who is Chairman of the Edsel Club has a huge amount of Edsel NOS parts. Something like a couple of ship board containers full. I've actually gone to him on a couple of occassions to get parts for my Merc when the same as used on an Edsel. Even got a set of NOS exhaust manifolds from him.

He can be reached at (239) 731-8027. His name is Robert Mayer. He is in Fort Meyers, Florida so I hope he can be reached given all the storms they have had there.

The Edsel Club web site is at;

http://www.edselworld.com/Magazine.htm

Please let me know what you find out.

If This Is The Case...

The early 430 cylinder head was replaced during the 1958 production run by the 383 cylinder head. So actually any early cylinder head (58/60)(reduced port and valve sizes in 1961) should work. I was going to suggest regular MEL heads but the 410 has a smaller bore size and without the proper reference materials was concerned the early 430 heads valves may have hit the cylinder bores.

Also be advised there is an additional TSB (1958) concerning head removal on the 410. It states that if there are two head gaskets per head to reassemble in that fashion as I suppose it dramatically raises the CR.

I wish there was a parts for sale and wanted here but the format would have to be changed. Maybe I will talk to Theo about it.

Did he want 550 per head or both? Were they new castings or takeoffs?
