A participant here has found a cam manufacturer that is willing to invest in a minimum purchase of blanks to provide more agressive grinds than were available from OEM to perk up our MEL engines.

Below is the pertinent information;

"The cam grinder is Oregon Cam Grinding---

www.oregoncamshaft.com .

I had sent out e-mails to a bunch of cam companies and most responded back with "it is not availible" or "you need to place an order of at least 500 cams---and it is very expensive". This guy had the lowest minimum order and when I spoke with him on the phone I found out that he used to be an L-M tech back in the mid to late 60's. He owns several old Ford products. He said he has thought about doing something about the MEL cams, but wasn't sure if there was enough interest to support the investment.

The way I see it is even if his lobe designs aren't right up to date, a cam design from the 90's or even the 80's would be better than from the 50's to mid 60's. Besides, he can grind whatever duration and lobe sep you want. I think there would be very few people interested in making a full race motor with big lumpy cams, but I know I would be interested in having more street pep and better overall torque of an RV style cam.

Take a look at their website, I think they would be the best people to take on this project.

Mark Piechowski"

My understanding is that a blank will cost approx. $65 and a full grind (incl. blank) will be approx. $155.00. I think this price is more than reasonable. FE lifters will be compatable with the cam.

I have left messages on the LCOC (LINC) MB, the IMOA (MERC) MB and the SQUAREBIRDS (TBIRD) MB.

The grinder needs a minimum of fifty participants (purchases). If you are interested, please register on this thread and leave a viable E-Mail addy.

...and see what works best. I have the dyno 2000 program which is pretty accurate. A poll on which profile to order couild be launched once we got a respectble # of people interested in ordering a custom grind. Hope this network54 forum function works better now.

This will give you the most popular FE timing events. I would like the results from the C8AX-C camshaft myself...

.....Nice curve. I was a bit unfair vs. the stock cam. I gave the C8 AX - C a bigger carb and large tube headers to breath.

Looks good to me, I'd definitely pay for one. Better than same price for stock cam.

The C8AX-C is great for hot street useage. The C6OZ-B was used for years in the 390GT and 428CJ and is a milder grind but will allow the engine to wind up.

If we could draw the interest, it will definitely be great.

Hello, just found this forum. I am in search of performance for my 430 mel in my 63 lincoln. I know very little about performance. I have had rv type performance cams installed in previous vehicles. The only way to find a cam for this motor is to have it custom made? Are there NOS c8 ax-c cams available? Do I have to find 47 other people interested item? Thanks in advance.
