Hey guys, a buddy and I both have '69 F250 Ranger Camper Special's. I also have a '64 continental in refurbishment stages. My buddy says that the C6 employed by our trucks (and so many other ford vehicles) can be bolted to the '64 430 no fuss. Is this true? Or, are there other C6's slightly altered and specifically made for the '58-'65 Linc. 430ci?

I bought my '64 for nothing, and it came with a showroom interior...all black leather, tilt steering...two days of turtlewax chrome polish and leather cleaner/conditioner and it shined like crazy.

...being a beginner in MEL, the MEL trans bolt pattern is like a perfect circle, pretty similar to the FE bolt pattern.
Dunno exactly when it began, but the later C6 transmissions mostly had a flat top cut unless the where bolted on an FE.
Just follow the MEL engine knowledge base to get to the trans section and take a look at it.
I don't know about conversions at this time.
Good luck though

AN FE Bellhousing...

(352/390/428) will bolt to a 430. The FE flywheel will bolt to the crank flange. So, it only stands to reason an FE case C6 will go to it. The only considerations are flexplate, convertor hub size and depth of the hub into the crank flange pilot.

Now this being said, the 1966/ 462 came with a C6 from the factory, but the block had a dual bolting pattern and that C6 case was unique. But, the dual bolt pattern will still take the earlier trans bellhousing. Just one hole and a separate mounting bracket is not used.

It will take a little experimentation, but I think it would work.

The '58 to '61 or '62 blocks are the same bell as an FE. The '63 to '65 blocks have a lower starter mount and different dowl pin and are not a direct bolt on to an FE bell. The '66 to '67 462 blocks have a C6 that is yet another pattern. They do however, have the '63 to '65 pattern....but it doesn't help you bolt to an FE bell. The best bet is to get a '66 to '67 with the C6, or a '58 to '61 to bolt to an FE.
