.....the 58 engine I'm working on seems to be a Frankenstein mix. It had FORD dark blue valve covers while the rest was FORD green under 1" of lard.
I stripped most of the parts down to bare metal and sprayed the VHT Fore green that I had in my shelf.
Needless to say that it is way off from the original color that it clains to resemble. The VHT is sort of a baby color while the original color is a bit darker w. a fancy metallic effect as I see it.
I sprayed everything green except. for the PS pump reservoir which I gave it a perfectly matching Mercedes silver gray metallic. I'm not sure if I went wrong w. the pulleys which I sprayed green too. Weren't they black?
Anybody can post pics of an engine in its' original trim or give me directions?
Thanx in advance

"It had FORD dark blue valve covers while the rest was FORD green under 1" of lard."

By FORD dark blue, do you mean the color or are the covers stamped with raised letters FORD?

....Kultulz, the engine belongs to a 58 Lincoln (pink colour, Urghhs!!), not an Edsel.
The valve covers are plain w/o any script at all.
Looks like I have to do some corrections on the color of the brackets and the pulleys.
Is the mentioned Porsche color a special engine color or is it just body paint? Can it withstand the engine heat?
Thank you for the info

Color Codes

The DuPont and Porsche numbers are color codes. They are for an EDSEL 410. Now don't quote me, but I thought the LINCOLN engines were painted black.

Anyways, just give your paint supplier the color code(s) (he might have a chip chart to check) and he will mix engine paint for you.

1958 PREMIERE

Decided to cut the 58 Lincoln's hood for a cobra scoop................

........Ha Ha..nooo way! I think that this wasn't Christopher's best idea. At least he could have given it a wider design in size rather than this small piece. But the site is interesting though and he's definately giving his best for his project. I personally think that this mid sixtees Lincoln is a master piece. It was my favourite car when I was 7 years old. And I knew that it was the presiden's car that took him everywhere. God drives a T-Bird in heaven, but John F. has got the Lincoln packed w. sexy chicks, where ever they might cruise at the moment LOL.

But if you will notice in his text, the carb mounting pads are on a different angle on the EDELBROCK as compared to the factory manifold...the same difference as the 3x2 setups on the FE. There is also a difference in the angle on the passenger car (FE) as opposed to the TBIRD (FE). I guess this wasn't realized until he had the set built...too late to turn back.

Still a nice looking job but I agree...the hood scoop is out of place. Maybe if he had just put a raised bubble on the hood.
