Crank journel on MEL is 2.6 and BBC is 2.2. BBC rods can be used if you want to make a stroker engine, lighten riciprocating mass, or change rod length as there a large number of lengths available off the shelf. BBC rod will not drop into MEL engine. Crank must be machined down and rebalanced to whatever combination you choose. TJR
