I heard of the option before but not for 58 or 59. There were some aftermarket parts made by Edelbrock and Stromberg that were made but I don't know of anything FoMoCo. That was the era of "the HOT ROD Lincoln" AND 3X2'S WERE COMMON.

I've seen the 3x2's and 8 singles on Ebay but they were aftermarket and most likely for a Lincoln auto.

My 1959 service manual lists the only carb from Ford Motors for the Lincoln 430 in the T-Bird was an AFB Carter (2853s) Airhorn number 5752040 - FORD MOTOR DIVISION - 1959 FORD THUNDERBIRD - SHOP MANUAL on 2-57

Lists only the Carter carb on the 1959 Birds with a 430. It's possible the NASCAR's had the 3x2's. The reason I say that is I am looking at a photo of Billy Cooper's NASCAR interior and it had a 3-speed stick. That option WAS NOT available to the public. ONLY the Cruis-O-Matic could be bought by the public. If they modified the NASCAR's' (there were 8 made for racing by Ford however only one now exists) The photo of the NASCAR engine bay shows a modified open sided 4 bbl air cleaner. Chances are they modified an engine too but it's doubtful in 1959 if you believe the books.
