"Connecting rod (exch only) $30ea"

Those are reconditioned rods and require a core exchange. You are going to have to find the rod(s) from either a spare engine or seller.

As for Kanter, go to the LCOC BOARD http://www.thelincolnforum.net/phpbb/index.php?c=1 and you can find past experiences with Kanter there.
