"Why is your machinist thinking about having the piston tops machined down? I don't think this will be necessary. The compression of the early MELS were higher than on most of the ones that followed. I think the opposite will be the case and the question will be "how can I raise my compression?"."

The 462 heads actually had small chambers in them to lessen CR. It will be very important to arrive at a decent street CR.

Keep the early heads and intake (unless you trip upon a stock MEL or EDELBROCK 3 x 2 intake.

I have info as to a MEL 2 x 4 offering but have not seen the material yet.
