Response to Pistons 462 in a 430

 

Both the 430 and 462 use the same length connecting rod. But the shop manual specs do not give the piston pin height. If both pistons have the same pin height, I do not see why you could not substitute.

You need a 462 piston to mic out. Also, the 462 had a reduced CR. They put a small chamber in the 462 heads. I do not know if the piston pop-up (wedge) was changed. You would also have to look at that to ensure you are not lowering the CR.

If you find someone that will mic the two pistons, let us know the measurements here please.
