I guess what I meant to say is that the FE uses a mechanical linkage system whereas the MEL used vacuum motors to initiate secondary carb. operation.

If you do find a suitable MEL 3X2 intake, it would be much cheaper (and easier) to use the FE system. You could evem modify early HOLLEY 2300's and mill down the air horns to accept the FE style air cleaners of the period.
